Our Approach

At Multi-Sensory Arts Initiative, we design every resource with accessibility and engagement at the core. Our curriculum is built on research-based strategies that empower diverse learners through multi-sensory education to deepen critical thinking, encourage creativity, and provide the challenge of exploring ideas through multiple pathways.

Learning Pathways

We believe learning should flow naturally; that's why we offer grade-range resources. You can select materials that fit your student's unique strengths, challenges, and interests. This multi-sensory approach helps every child progress with confidence.

Competenency-Based

We create resources that focus on skill mastery. You can track progress with clear, competency-based criteria instead of traditional grading. Research shows this builds confidence and independence, while helping students connect skills to the real world.

Multi-Sensory

We design materials that engage the senses. With a blend of interactive notebooks and hands-on STEM projects, students can connect ideas across subjects and learning styles. This multi-sensory approach turns learning into an active experience.

Why It Works

Dyslexia

Decodable texts support orthographic mapping to build long-term word recognition. It also reduces the cognitive load by using predictable language to build fluency through repetition and pattern recognition. Over time, this improves automatic word retrieval. Easier-to-read Comic Sans font improves readability with precise spacing and letterform differentiation that reduces mirror image confusion (like b/d, p/q).  Generous spacing reduces visual clutter to support working memory and processing speed. By making it easier to track and retain information across words and lines, students are less likely to skip lines or lose their place.  Left-aligned text eliminates hyphenated words that often appear in justified text, reducing the extra effort to reconstruct the split word mentally. Multi-sensory extension activities engage multiple brain pathways. This helps students build schema by connecting new learning to meaningful, hands-on experiences. By using movement, creativity, and spatial reasoning (which are often dyslexic strengths), learning is aligned with how their brain works best. Using strengths-based learning improves retention, comprehension, and confidence.

Attention Deficit

Multi-sensory extension activities engage movement, creativity, and interaction to improve attention and retention. By providing hands-on ways to explore and express understanding, these activities help build scheme and make learning feel relevant and rewarding. They tap into the curiosity, imagination, and energy that are often strengths of ADHD learners, turning learning into a focused, strengths-based experience. Decodable texts reduce cognitive overload with predictable, structured language. This supports focus and task completion by minimizing the need to re-read text. This helps students stay more engaged with the text from start to finish. Generous spacing reduces visual clutter and supports attention, processing speed, and working memory. Precise spacing between words and lines makes it easier for students to follow along, reducing frustrations. Easier-to-read Comic Sans font improves visual clarity and reduces distractions through consistent letter formation and spacing. This makes reading less mentally taxing and helps maintain attention on the page.

Gifted

Strengths-based, multi-sensory extension activities provide gifted students with flexible outlets for creativity, problem-solving, and innovation. These hands-on, open-ended experiences allow them to explore concepts beyond the surface-level understanding, make connections across disciplines, and express learning in unique ways. Built-in schema strategies help gifted learners organize and integrate new knowledge, supporting deeper transfer and long-term mastery. Rather than accelerating through content without depth, our approach encourages reflection, creativity, and complexity that are innate to the gifted mind. Decodable texts with depth and clarity, allowing gifted students to move quickly through decoding while engaging with meaningful content. Predictable structure builds fluency, while the layered vocabulary and themes encourage curiosity, inquiry, and higher-order thinking. Easier-to-read Comic Sans font and accessible formatting free cognitive energy for deep thinking and reflection. With an efficient text layout and design, gifted students can focus on analysis, synthesis, and creativity. Generous spacing and left-aligned text promote efficient visual processing, helping fast thinkers track and absorb information quickly. The clean layout supports advanced reading speed while still reinforcing strong comprehension and retention.

All Learners

Our books and curriculum resources are grounded in research-based instructional design practices that support diverse learners through universal accessibility, cognitive efficiency, and meaningful engagement. Every element, including the text, layout, and activities, was intentionally crafted to reduce cognitive barriers and support deep learning. We use clear, decodable texts to scaffold fluency and comprehension across reading levels, enabling students to access content without getting stuck on decoding challenges. Simplified sentence structures, predictable language patterns, and thoughtfully chosen vocabulary help reduce working memory load while increasing student autonomy. Visual design follows principles of Universal Design (UD), including left-aligned text, consistent spacing, and accessible font to support readability, focus, and sustained engagement. Beyond reading, our multi-sensory extension activities provide opportunities for students to build schema through movement, creativity, and hands-on exploration. By activating multiple modalities, students reinforce understanding, strengthen connections, and retain knowledge more effectively. This approach allows learners to express mastery in diverse ways and bridges the gap between abstract concepts and real-world application. Whether a student is neurodivergent, gifted, or learns best through doing, our program is designed to meet them where they are. We aim to support all students' growth, confidence, and authentic learning.

Strategies

Retention

Spaced practice allows students to revisit concepts over time instead of one-time exposure. Multi-sensory experiences strengthen neural pathways. Complex skills and topics are scaffolded into smaller manageable parts to build mastery over time.

Recall

Retrieval practice with low-stakes activities and games require learners to actively recall information. Infographics and anchor activities are paired with concepts to trigger memory. â€‹

Application

Project-based learning gives students the opportunity to apply concepts to create something meaningful. Reflections through journaling and activities help students think about how they learned, strengthening transfer of learning.

Initiatives

We center our work on three initiatives: Education, Innovation, and Connection. Together, they shape our multi-sensory approach to education. These initiatives guide how we design resources, support learning, and give back to the community.

Initiative #1
EDUCATION

We develop resources that intentionally apply principles of anchored instruction and motivational design. By integrating project-based, game-based, and discovery-driven learning, this initiative advances our strategic goal of making education accessible, engaging, and effective for all learners.

Initiative #2
INNOVATION

We design resources that use multi-sensory, experiential learning for students to practice, reflect, and apply knowledge. This approach strengthens retention, recall, and transfer of learning. This initiative advances our strategic goal of fostering an innovative mindset in students that enables them to create new knowledge from their experiences.

Initiative #3
CONNECTION

We connect ideas, students, teachers, and families through shared experiences. By encouraging collaboration, we make learning something children and adults can enjoy together. Additionally, a portion of every sale supports programs that provide resources for children in need, extending connection beyond the classroom and into our communities.
